Introduction to Rope Bondage

Tuesday August 26th, 2008
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
at Paradise 2008 in Redmond, Washington

This workshop begins with a gripping rope bondage demonstration.

The remainder of the class is a hands-on workshop in which several useful knots and positions are taught. By the end of the workshop, you will have some basic skills and will be able to tie up your partner with grace and confidence.

Max will also present an overview of rope bondage techniques and materials, with lots of "show and tell" items and pointers on buying appropriate gear.

No prior knowledge of bondage or knots is assumed for this class - it's perfectly appropriate for beginners. This class also works well if you've already done some bondage and want to tune up your technique.

If you can, come with a practice partner. If you don't have a partner, come anyway and we'll make sure you get a chance to practice the basic techniques. Rope Bottoms - this is your chance to meet some rope tops - come learn and get tied up!

Some rope will be provided for the workshop, but bring the following if you can:

  • (1) 10-foot piece of 5/16" (8mm) or 3/8"
  • (1) 30-foot piece of 5/16" (8mm) or 3/8"

As with all of Max's workshops, a handout will be provided to facilitate your learning and retention.

This workshop assumes no previous experience and is appropriate for all genders, all orientations and for both "tops" and "bottoms".

Topping To The Next Level - Techniques for Thoughtful Tops

Sunday August 31st, 2008
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
at Paradise 2008 in Redmond, Washington

Most of us start our topping career focused on physical technique - flogging, bondage, shaving ginger root and so on.

At some point we all look up and realize that that's the easy part - the hard parts are negotiating and planning the scene, building and maintaining connection and managing your bottom's physiological, psychological and emotional responses.

This workshop focuses on the "softer" parts of topping and covers topics like:

  • Scene structure and dynamics
  • Getting what you want - Matching techniques to objectives
  • Physiology and psychology
  • Seducing consent
  • Building and maintaining connection
  • Pushing yourself and your bottom
  • Helping your bottom receive stimulus and process play
  • Managing the intensity of a scene
  • Recognizing "hard limits" vs. "soft limits"
  • Using negotiation to jump-start a scene
  • Dealing with problems and learning from your mistakes

Because there's so much information to cover, this workshop will be all demos and lecture. There's no need to bring a practice partner, although we think this material is as valuable to bottoms as it is to tops. Bottoms - don't you want to know what your top is up to?

As with all of Max's workshops, a handout will be provided to facilitate your learning and retention.

This workshop assumes no previous experience and is appropriate for all genders, all orientations and for both "tops" and "bottoms".
