This workshop is your chance to get up close and personal with a whole lot of extraordinary bondage equipment. This isn’t the stuff you see during a normal party - it’s unusual, often custom-made, and always diabolically effective.
Many pieces of gear and material will be discussed and displayed. We'll have leather sleepsacks, straitjackets, a cravat, cuffs, cages, hoods and more. After some introductory comments, most pieces will be available for your hands-on experimentation.
For each type of gear, we'll address
To supplement Max's personal collection, Tom Wood will be bringing many pounds of metal bondage gear up from San Francisco. Tom has been a friend and colleague for many years, is one of the best rope tops around, and is a serious metal bondage fan.
As a special bonus, Bill of Williams Metalware will be bringing his line of metal restraints and talking about how he makes his metal gear. You can see Bill's work on the Rainbow Rope site - go to Products, and then Metalware.
The workshop will begin with several demonstrations of high-end bondage equipment. You'll get a chance to ask questions and see how the gear works.
The remainder of the workshop will be structured to allow one-on-one interactions between you and the presenters. Ask questions, examine the equipment, and spend some time putting it on your partner or trying it on for size yourself.
We won't be doing "scenes" of course. The objective will be learning, having fun, and experimenting with equipment you wouldn't normally have access to.
This workshop is perfect for both bondage tops and bondage bottoms. If you've wanted to see how the equipment in the movies and on the web sites feels, come try it on. If you've contemplated an expensive equipment purchase or commissioning a piece of custom gear, come check out what we have and talk with the other folks in the room. And if you just want to watch a stunning display of exotic bondage "stuff", this is the place.
This workshop assumes no previous bondage experience, and is appropriate for all genders and orientations.
Tom Wood really enjoys bondage.
He uses a variety of materials in his bondage, but has a special passion for metal. Tom has been doing bondage for nearly 20 years - he originally learned in the Boy Scouts, and later used that expertise during his dates. About 14 years ago Tom discovered the scene and has been developing and refining his distinctive bondage and suspension techniques ever since.
Tom is a member of San Francisco's Society of Janus, and has taught for SOJ, The Evangelical Perv’s Association, Dragon’s Keep, and Thunder in the Mountains.
You may have met Tom at local events while he was living in Seattle, Portland, or San Francisco or at national conferences like Black Rose, Living in Leather, Thunder in the Mountains, or KinkFest.
While Tom has taught a number of bondage classes, he especially enjoys providing impromptu classes just after a scene, when observers walk up and ask questions. He is fond of providing one-on-one instruction about rope, from basic bondage to advanced suspensions. It is extremely gratifying to him to later see those individuals performing successful bondage scenes of their own.
Williams Metalware is the result of one of those happy collusions of personal interest and professional skills. By trade a manufacturer of stainless steel hardware for yachts (which he calls "boat jewelry"), Bill started creating a few toys for personal use in bondage games, and before he knew it, had a second business making stainless steel restraints.
Bill's work tends to have fans of steel bondage salivating - and you can see why. Each design is carefully thought out and beautifully engineered; he makes everything in 304 or 316 grade stainless steel, which is buffed and polished to a high degree of shine, electropolished for even more shine, then buffed again. The result is enough sparkle to bring out the magpie in anyone!
The Williams Metalware range includes superior versions of pretty much every classic dungeon restraint - collars, cuffs, slave irons, etc. - plus many of Bill's fiendishly original ideas, such as nose hooks, steel gags, tail hooks, the Pussy Hanger and the wrist cage.
Most items made from flat bar, such as his Chatlet cuff are also available in round bar. He makes lighter "jewelry" versions too, and will custom-make most anything you take a shine too.
You can see Bill's work on the Rainbow Rope site - go to Products, and then Metalware.
